A modern, open floor plan was the solution to maximizing the kitchen of this 1950’s bungalow in the Del Rey neighborhood.
What used to be a 150 sq. ft. galley and separate 49.5 sq. ft. mud room have been expanded and formed with the living and dining area to create a 517 sq. ft. great room. The wall that divided the living room from the kitchen has been replaced with 3’4″ x 7’10” island that includes a prep sink and breakfast bar. Removable custom trim panels have been incorporated into the cabinetry in case the owners decide to replace the vintage O’Keefe & Merritt stove. A clean color scheme was chosen to create a light, modern, beachy feel.
